IDEMIA, a leading provider of biometric solutions, has partnered with My Family ID to offer families a digital tool for capturing children’s identification information and fingerprints.
The My Family ID app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, allows users to store a child’s photo and high-resolution fingerprints. Families can create safety profiles for up to six members, including critical identification and safety information.
Designed to aid law enforcement in locating missing children, the app offers encrypted storage of photos, fingerprints, and personal details on users’ devices. In emergencies, families can quickly generate a PDF with this information to share with law enforcement.
“Improving how we deal with missing and runaway children is a passion of mine,” said Charles Still, retired juvenile detective and creator of My Family ID. “This app is a practical tool that parents can easily use and that law enforcement finds helpful.”
Donnie Scott, CEO of IDEMIA Public Security North America, emphasised the app’s importance, stating, “The My Family ID app enables parents, guardians, or caregivers to maintain digital IDs and fingerprints for children accessible from their smartphone, crucial in emergencies when every second counts.”
Casey Mayfield, SVP of Justice & Public Safety at IDEMIA Public Security North America, added, “Having access to up-to-date information is most crucial for law enforcement agencies. Our biometric and fingerprint technology’s high-ranking performance is a valuable tool for keeping communities safe.”
The My Family ID app is the first designed specifically for identifying missing loved ones and aiding their return to families, offering an essential solution in today’s digital age.
