ID Talk hosts are joined by Anand Acharya and Pallavi Sharma, speakers at the upcoming Identity Week Asia in Singapore, for their next podcast episode.
Spread over the Kingdom of Bhutan’s remote digital identity project, deep in the Eastern Himalayas, Pallavi Sharma of the Bhutan NDI Project is back speaking in Singapore on the difficulty for their citizens to obtain ID and their government to equalise access with other countries.
Last year’s speech focalised the specific challenges to the Kingdom of Bhutan in terms of digital transformation, digital connectivity and digital identity gaps, but also showed their ambition to reach their goals.
Bhutan is striving for a western-style national digital identity, but with just over 787,000 citizens progress can be slow. Since last year’s event, Bhutan has become the first country to roll out an SSI-based decentralized national identity at a population scale!
The ID Talk podcast, in partnership with Identity Week, gets a preview on their advancing technological development since founding a digital trust system, incorporating blockchain and biometrics. Hear from the Bhutan NDI team in-person on the 22-23 October at Identity Week Asia – tickets available!
Listen to the full episode on your podcast platform of choice, or through the media player on the ID Talk website. And if you’re planning to attend Identity Week Asia in October, be sure to catch Pallavi’s talk at the Suntec Convention Center.
