Brazilian biometrics firm CPqD has announced that its Smart Authentication solution, which uses face and voice recognition, will run on the Power8 platform recently launched by IBM.Available for testing in the IBM Client Center (ICC), in Sao Paulo, CPqD says its solution strengthens an existing partnership between it and IBM in the area of security and fraud prevention.”The correct identification of the customer who is trying to buy a product or perform a banking, in an electronic service channel, it is essential to prevent fraud that today are of concern in banking and e-commerce companies,” said Graziela Barros, Biometric Authentication Solution Manager CPqD.”On the other hand, excessive security procedures, with repeated requests for passwords, tokens and personal information, may end up overshadowing the great attractions of electronic service: the convenience and ease of use,” he adds.Barros added that the solution can be used in multiple communication channels (internet, phone and smartphone) and combining biometrics technologies, speech synthesis (text to speech) and speech recognition (automatic speech recognition) CPqD for Portuguese spoken in Brazil – which further facilitates interaction with users. He said is important to have a device with high processing capabilities, such as the IBM Power8. “Biometric data are very high and processing involves a large number of different combinations, with complex algorithms,” explains.
