In response to growing demand for its Card Specification training, GlobalPlatform, the industry body which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology, has launched its online Card Specifications training programme. This new approach will complement the association's existing instructor-led sessions, which will continue to take place throughout the year at locations around the world."Our instructor-led Card Specification training sessions are extremely popular but this training methodology, while highly interactive, limits the number of students we can effectively train during the course of the year," says Kevin Gillick, executive director of GlobalPlatform. "Our instructor-led sessions have trained more than 700 students since 2009 and by taking this programme online, we are now able to reach more people, more effectively as students now have more options."The online training – which is designed to improve industry knowledge of the function, capability and flexibility of the organisation's card specification, its various amendments and configurations – will allow students to move through the curriculum at a pace, time and location of their choosing. The programme provides an explanation of key card specification topics including secure channels, security domains, remote application loading, management models, application programming interfaces and GlobalPlatform for mobile contactless services."With applications and services being deployed to standardised secure chip technologies, and the migration of services like payments to mobile, the GlobalPlatform Card Specification has never been more relevant. The increasing deployment of secure elements means people need insight into how to fully utilize the GlobalPlatform Card Specifications. This programme allows us to keep up with growing demand. Offering both online and instructor-led training methods offers students the opportunity to choose the environment best suited to their style of learning, so it is our intention to continue the expansion of both programmes down the line," concludes Kevin. The online training is open to both GlobalPlatform members and non-members at a fee of US$795 and US$995 respectively.
