Evolis has launched a new colour touch screen display for its desktop card printer range. Set in 16 languages, the 2.4 inch touch screen is designed for desktop-based applications such as transport, banking and retail, and for any other uses when the card printer is far from the computer. The company says the new option is a time saver for users because they can set the printer directly from the touch screen, start or cancel a print job, view the status of ribbons and cards or trigger cleaning.Evolis says it has given special importance to comprehension of the on-screen information. For example, the icons used have been designed to be as explicit as possible. In addition, a visual step-by-step wizard guides the user through printer cleaning. There are also help messages that automatically appear to solve common problems and the printer screen can be personalised with the contact details of the reseller."We developed the touch screen to meet the special needs for autonomy of some users," says Agnes Puel, product manager at Evolis. "It makes managing the printer easier, particularly when it is far from the computer that is usually the driver."The colour touch screen is available for order for the Primacy model (optional) and on request for specific projects on the Zenius and Elypso models.
