The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity has issued a call for experts to join an Ad Hoc Working Group dedicated to developing a cybersecurity certification scheme for EU Digital Identity Wallets. This initiative follows a request from the European Commission aimed at enhancing the security and functionality of these digital wallets across the EU.

EUDI Wallets are designed to offer EU citizens a secure method for online identification and document sharing, encapsulating personal data within a single, accessible application. The forthcoming certification scheme, based on ENISA’s candidate framework, is expected to ensure that all EUDI Wallets meet high-security standards, thereby safeguarding user data and privacy.

The AHWG will align its efforts with the European Digital Identity Framework and integrate previous work from the eIDAS Toolbox Expert Group. ENISA is inviting applications from experts in cybersecurity certification, digital wallets, and electronic identification. Interested professionals must commit to participating actively throughout the project’s phases.

Applications for the AHWG are open until November 18 2024 at 12:00 EET.
