Taiwanese manufacturer Elan has credited fingerprint sensors for playing a role in increased revenues it had last month.Elan Microelectronics has announced consolidated revenues for June 2016 increased 4.8% sequentially and 10.7% on year to NT$542 million (US$16.7 million), reported the DigiTimes on Thursday.Elan was quoted in previous reports saying its second-quarter revenues would be driven by growing shipments of touchscreen controllers for notebooks. Elan expects shipments of its notebook-use touchscreen controllers to hike 30% sequentially in the second quarter.Elan also disclosed shipments of its fingerprint sensors would be lower-than-expected in the second quarter. Nevertheless, shipments are set to rise significantly in the third quarter.Elan expects to ship two million fingerprint sensors in the third quarter, up from about 600,000 in the second quarter. Shipments of its fingerprint sensors will climb further to more than three million units in the fourth quarter.
