The DHS is scouting for commercial partners to licence two biometric systems it has developed, the Biometric Data Collection and Verification System (BDCVS) and the Biometric Identity Disambiguation (BID) system, which should support mitigating identity verification conflicts. The systems are built to address data speed, matching accuracy, and to identify identity conflicts to overall strengthen the biometric identity screening process.
The licencing partners will be sourced through DHS’s Technology Transfer and Commercialisation Programme, opening up this opportunity for contractors specialising in commercial biometric technologies.
As the biometric traveller movement continues to ramp up, the DHS is investing in the expansion of biometric technologies across screening and identity verification. The tools measure how biometric data is captured, stored and retrieved.
The contract issued for the right contractor is expected to be valued at $100 million, indicating a significant federal interest in procurement activity.
