The Governor of the State of Colorado has issued an Executive Order supporting the widespread adoption of digital personal identification technology. This order is intended to provide merchant stakeholders with notice of the Governor's directives to all executive branch agencies in the state and recommendations for merchants with regard to digital personal identification technology. The Executive Order's directives were the result of a collaborative effort between the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) to keep pace with the expanding use of technology in all aspects of life by increasing digital access to government services without the need for a physical identification card. The Division of Motor Vehicles is committed to working closely with merchants and business organizations to answer questions and provide information on how to validate the Colorado Digital ID and to understand how the digital ID may be used in business transactions as a result of the Executive Order.
