Online commentators are hailing Canada's passport as "the most beautiful in the world" after a Reddit blogger published images of the passport's designs when shown under blacklight.Using a UV light, images of Canadian icons featured in the passport such as Parliament Hill, Niagara Falls and the Fathers of Confederation burst into colour. The blacklight-enhanced design is used to help officials identify the passports, which were issued in mid 2013.Credit:IMGUR, CHACHICHACHICHICKEN"The artistic designs in UV-reactive inks complement the visual design and serve to further secure the visa pages against counterfeiting," Citizenship and Immigration Canada spokesperson Nancy Caron told Mashable. "The presence of UV designs were included in the details of security features shared with Canadian and international law enforcement and border authorities for their use in establishing the authenticity of a Canadian electronic passport."Credit:IMGUR, CHACHICHACHICHICKEN Caron told the website that at the time of the passport's launch, Canada was the only country using the technique.Late last year, New Norwegian passports that can also change appearance under UV light were praised for their blend of form and function.Developed by Oslo design studio Neue, the passports have a plain red cover featuring a Norwegian crest. There are turquoise covers for diplomats, and grey for immigrants. The design magic is inside, with a scene of icy peaks overlooking a body of water changing to reveal the Northern Lights when placed under a UV light.
