Face recognition technology has helped federal officials in Canada identify 15 high-risk people wanted on immigration warrants.The Canada Border Services Agency introduced the technology to uncover those use fake names to obtain genuine Canadian travel documents, reports The Canadian Press.Although launched as a pilot, the Liberal government might make the facial-recognition scheme permanent to help find and arrest people ineligible to remain in Canada, adds the report.In the pilot, the border agency shared the photos and biographic information of 1,000 wanted individuals with a high-risk flag on their files to see if they had applied for – or even obtained – a Canadian travel document under a false identity – 15 matches turned up.In January, Canada's border agency said it planned to compare images of people arriving in the country with photographs of suspects on watchlists to keep out alleged terrorists and other criminals.
