Contactless biometrics solutions firm Advanced Optical Systems announced today that they will be previewing a new product at connect:ID 2017 called ANDI START, a zero-contact 10-print enrollment station. In a statement, the firm said AOS has designed ANDI START to knock down the barriers to Appendix F certification for contactless fingerprints and to improve the user enrollment experience. The ANDI START kiosk is built on AOS' PIV-certified ANDI On the Go solution. To use ANDI On the Go, the user holds out their hand as they walk and passes their hand through an illuminated hand guide. The user pauses in front of the kiosk and pass their hand down through an illuminated hand guide. The user can enroll or verify their identity using 4, 8 or 10 fingerprints. With an integrated passport reader, full biographic enrollment or verification can be achieved in seconds.”ANDI START is the ideal solution to speed up throughput at traditional border crossings, ” said AOS. “By using a zero-contact fingerprinting solution, border agents can reduce failure to acquire errors and reduce the costs associated with triaging “unprintable” individuals. Because zero-contact fingerprint sensors do not require an individual to press their fingerprints against a surface, people with contact unprintable fingerprints can still be successfully enrolled”.Christopher Centamore, Director of Business Development for AOS noted that “a non-contact fingerprint solution for border crossings is even more inclusive. Now, even people who have been labeled as having bad fingerprints can use their own fingerprints to reliably identify themselves.”
