PARIS – Access-IS has revealed the ATOM Document Reader, a state-of-the-art, multi-illumination eMRTD reader. Speaking at the CARTES Secure Connexions (Trustech) exhibition in Paris, the company said that the solution has dramatically improved performance and is a major leap forward in aesthetic design."This device sets the ID document reader standard for years to come", added the firm."Access-IS listened intently as customers and the market told them what they wanted in the next generation of products. Two of the key desires were for an intuitive design and for a product that would not look out of place in a 21st century office, retail store or bank."ATOM delivers on both counts; its stand-out design sets it apart from other readers and allows for both desktop use and simple, elegant integration into countertops and kiosks. Its innovative 'shark fin' document guides ensure that even the most widely travelled documents quickly slide onto the glass, with bent corners eased down for a perfect read every time".The company added that ATOM is the first full-page passport reader to feature a USB 3.0 interface."This latest standard of Universal Serial Bus allows ATOM to capture multiple, uncompressed high-resolution images in Visible, IR and UV wavelengths whilst substantially improving processing and transfer speed. In comparison to other scanners, ATOM significantly reduces the transaction time to deliver greater productivity and cost savings."Like its predecessors, ATOM still delivers lightning fast MRZ decoding, whilst simultaneously reading RFID data from eDocuments, including those meeting the latest ICAO LDS standards. Additionally the high performance 1D/2D barcode reading ensures that ATOM delivers the rich feature-set that Access-IS document readers are famous for".Guy-Franck Nakach, CEO of Access-IS, said: "This is a major change for Identity document readers, not only does ATOM deliver an impressive, step change in specification and performance it also brings a new benchmark for aesthetic designߪit's not just another boring grey box, ATOM really stands out from the crowd."
