The General Services Administration's 18F, an organisation focused on shaping digital services for federal agencies, has issued a request for proposals related to development of a consumer-facing interagency authentication platform for citizen services.18F wants a vendor team that could provide technical features to the login.gov identity management platform, which is scheduled to be launched in November 2016, FedScoop reported. The chosen contractor would help 18F integrate the identity tool with agency code bases, address agencies' identity issues and update the identity platform to meet agency needs through a base period of three months and the succeeding three-month option period, the report said.In a blog post in May, 18F revealed that it is working iteratively with a team of technologists from across the government to build a platform for users who need to log in to government services."Every consumer-facing service the government offers will benefit from this platform, enhancing the privacy and security of online interactions for the public and for agencies. ߪ This new platform will leverage the extensive lessons we've gained from agency efforts in the past, including lessons learned from our counterparts in the UK who built GOV.UK Verify."The organisation says that it will develop a "simple, elegant" way for the public to verify their identity, log in to federal government websites, and, if necessary, recover their account.
