ZTE has added eye-vein recognition solution EyeVerify to its latest flagship handset, the ZTE Grand S3, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer revealed at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.EyeVerify's eye-vein recognition tech will verify unique vein patterns in the human eye by using the Grand S3's front facing camera.Unlike iris recognition, the company's patented technology images and pattern matches the blood vessels in the whites of the eye to uniquely identify users.Eye-vein authentication doesn't need the infra-red scanners required for iris scans, which typically do not feature on mobile phones.”EyeVerify is excited to launch Eyeprint ID™ for users of ZTE devices – enabling highly accurate biometric authentication that eliminates password pain,” said Chris Barnett, EVP Global Sales & Marketing at EyeVerify.ZTE has also said that the Eyeprint ID tech will soon be integrated with mobile payment and other applications.Last November, EyeVerify has launched a new version of its eye-vein software solution which reduced authentication time for smart devices to just 800 milliseconds.Last month, Ebanking innovation firm Digital Insight said it was set to partner with EyeVerify on a password-free mobile banking app.
