Observation #1 from Identity Week Europe 2024: Wearing a token of our signature pink has become a representation of the fact this event brings out community spirit, enthusiasm and excitement for the future of identity!
This year’s meet-up in Amsterdam was exceptional through the comments and feedback from the industry.
Busy from opening on Tuesday, to the finishing panel discussion on Wednesday, what was noticeable was the flow of people from theatres to hundreds of stands and roundtables to be amongst the action. The non-stop conversations throughout the two days was a good tell-tale sign that much has changed in the identity world since 2023.
Already the press has reported a ‘striking’ assembly of ‘eager’ organisations and governments at Identity Week.
Marloes de Koning, Journalist at NRC Media said:
“This week I took a look at the ‘Identity week’ in the Rai, a fair about digital identity. I found it striking to see how eager both companies and governments are. In addition to numerous developers of software and components for passports, there were also many representatives of Frontex, the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND), and the military police, among others. Remote digital passport checks are the holy grail for airports, airlines, and authorities. Because if we succeed in doing it safely, it can become ‘safer and more fun’, Annet Steenbergen explains. The European Data Authority recently published an ‘opinion’ on the use of facial recognition in these techniques. I wrote this piece for NRC #identityweek #privacy #luchthaven #digitaleidentiteit Nick van Straten Jacques van Zijp Gerold Daantje”
