Australia, who toughened their social media rules, showing they won’t cave to big tech companies over the safety of children, have led the need for mandatory verification across the world. Vietnam has indicated plans to bolster cybersecurity, data security and enforce identity verification.
They are among requirements in Directive No. 57 to eliminate non-human bots and fake accounts within the public system.
Permanent Secretariat Trần Cẩm Tú said the directive is aimed at increasing responsibility across the political system and population to cybersecurity , network safety, and national digital transformation and detecting risks early. This can be achieved by advancing Vietnam’s core security technologies and AI use cases.
Enterprises in telecommunications, internet, finance and banking will be directed on system security. The Ministry of Public Security will take the lead on leveraging the national population database to further detection of threats in the cyberspace.
