Early feedback indicates a positive entry for passwordless logins at the University of New South Wales.

Biometrics will advance and facilitate access management for staff using Windows devices, strengthening the overall security of university systems and enhancing the login experience.

With the change implemented in August 2025, staff seem happy to embrace using biometrics, however, they can also set up a 6-digit PIN which will be compatible if some hardware does not support biometrics.

Passwordless is available as an opt-in service, powered by Windows Hello for Business.

This real-world example of balancing security with user experience is essential to the Verification & Authentication session and the Modern Identity Management session at Identity Week Europe 2026 where experts will discuss the future beyond passwords.
