The Star Alliance’s partnership with NEC is “deepening” heading into 2024, says Christian Draeger, Vice President Customer Experience at Star Alliance who fronts a new promotional video for NEC.

The collaboration has already successfully delved into biometric products across a number of airports and will continue to develop a secure digital identity management system and offer decentralised advantages for customers for biometric identification.

Star Alliance is also looking forward to a potential extended cooperation beyond NEC between NEC and SITA, as both solution providers finesse biometric identification for frequent flyer customers of the Alliance’s member airlines.

Customers that opt into Star Alliance biometrics can utilise these touchpoints, powered by NEC, for simple, trouble-free travel at airports such as Frankfurt and Munich Airport.

The participating member airlines and ports of entry will continue to be upscaled with the end-to-end biometric identification platform provided by NEC, which generates quick face and identity matching, enables mobile enrolment and user-centric data protection through an opt-in and opt-out system.
