Standard Chartered Bank has revealed that it is bringing its fingerprint enabled banking app to Africa.The bank said this week that biometrics will be deployed soon in eight markets – its rolling out a new mobile and online banking platform in the region in March.The fingerprint recognition technology which is expected to start in the second half of 2016 in Tanzania, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe will allow its customers to use 'Touch ID' to log in the mobile banking platform.This will give clients a more secure and convenient way to log in to their accounts through laptops, tablets or mobile phones, the bank said in a statement emailed yesterday.The mobile and online banking service which was rolled out last week in the eight countries will cover about one million clients across the eight African markets.In Tanzania, the new Mobile Application went live last week and the bank's customers have been downloading it on their smart phones covering both Apple and Android technology users.
