Pakistan's election commission has said that the country's current biometric capabilities are not reliable enough to depend on for local or national elections.Talking to journalists, a senior Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) official said that general elections or by-elections are not possible under biometric system as yet, reported Dunya News.He said that free and fair elections are only possible when the political parties express complete faith in the ECP and the staff is properly trained.In a biometric pilot earlier this year, the system failed to identify 54% of the thumb impressions that were registered.Also this week, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar directed officials to provide ID cards, free of cost, to affectees of earthquake on Tuesday. National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has dispatched 25 teams to the affected areas.
