The Election Commission of Pakistan has said it will purchase 400 electronic voting machines as part of an election trial.Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, ECP has confirmed that the procurement of these first 400 machines are a part of pilot project and the ECP could purchase more verification machines depending upon the success of this project.The chairman of the committee opined that upon its introduction, the biometrics verification system of elections would require proper maintenances and well-trained staff in order to tackle any problems in the system.The EC also plans to establish a training academy to train the staff for an electronic voting process.
