Designed to map identity frameworks between the U.S. and E.U, the Trade and Technology Council has put out a draft report calling for feedback specifically on the barriers to interoperability and the adoption of technologies and standards.
The transatlantic report looks for commonality between definitions, assurance levels and references to global standards across NIST’s Digital Identity Guidelines …
NIST’s guidelines, which are only mandated for U.S. federal agencies to adhere, outline three distinct categories and ascending levels of assurance for technologies, while in contrast, the EU regulation focuses only on levels of assurance.
The digital identity subgroup will conduct a second part to the mapping exercise in collecting feedback to open questions relating to identity frameworks and select use cases for cross-border digital identities which could interest both the U.S. and EU.
