Pornography sites are given their final warning from Ofcom, the communications regulator. They must comply with implementing highly effective age assurance tools to protect children, which Ofcom will monitor under strict enforcement.

If service providers fail to meet their standards of duty three months after the final children’s access assessments guidance is published in January, Ofcom will threaten action.

The timeline states that Ofcom’s Protection of Children Codes and risk assessment guidance comes out in April 2025. Sites most likely to be visited by children must ensure they conduct a risk assessment by July 2025 when it becomes enforceable.

“In February 2025, we will publish our draft guidance on protecting women and girls, containing advice on content and activity which disproportionately affects women and girls, and on assessing and reducing the risk of harm to them.”
