Voice recognition firm Nuance has announced that new voice biometrics capabilities have been added to its Dragon Drive system that allow carmakers to offer a more personalised experience for drivers.Revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nuance's new system uses voice authentication to recognise a driver through a spoken passphrase. It then provides content and information based on that driver's preferences, including connected music stations, navigation routes, traffic conditions, calendar, parking and fuel options along the route.”The next frontier for connected cars will be contextualizing and personalizing content,” said Jeffrey Hannah, Director at automotive research company SBD. “In order to enable this, car makers are rushing to find innovative new ways of detecting who is actually driving their cars and proactively delivering the information they need, when they need it.Last November, Nuance noted that Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Banco Santander Mexico, and Vodacom were all using its voice authentication solutions, while reporting that total revenue rose 6.4 percent to $502.3 million in the quarter ended 30 September.
