A first-tier company that had selected fingerprint sensor manufacturer Next Biometric's solutions has decided to implement NEXT sensors in two more product models following three months of integration work and preparations, the firm revealed in a statement.The expansion increases the volume estimates of the deal with approximately 20% or “by a minimum of 200,000 sensors”, said the company.The company CEO, Tore Etholm-Idsoe comments ” We see this as a clear confirmation that we are on track with our first TIER 1 and that they see a clear opportunity to differentiate positively in their product space, using NEXT technology”Earlier this month, the company launched a new ergonomic USB desktop fingerprint peripheral known as the “Oyster” that the company says will buck a poor performance trend for previous sensor offerings for notebooks and tab.The USB sensor works with a patented “NEXT Active Thermal principle”, which the firm says will make it more tolerant against dirt, grease and varying environmental conditions.
