The Secure Identity & Biometrics Association (SIBA) has selected Troy Potter of L-3 National Security Solutions (NSS) to act as chairman of the organisation. SIBA is a non-profit association that was established in February 2014 to promote responsible policy, education and implementation of solutions that protect and secure identity across private and public platforms.According to SIBA, Potter was chosen because of his vast experience in both the government and industry. He served as the Identity Services Branch (ISB) Deputy Assistant Director at the US Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program and was US-VISIT's Biometrics Systems program manager for a number of years, responsible for the management and oversight of one of the largest biometrics systems in the world. Today Potter is the vice president of L-3 NSS' Global Solutions Sector and leads all L-3 NSS Border Security and Biometrics programmes."I am very pleased to chair SIBA, which has rapidly established itself as the leading resource to proactively create awareness and promote the value of identity technologies and biometric solutions to enhance the security of individuals as well as organisations and the government," says Potter. "I look forward to working with SIBA CEO Janice Kephart and the board to continue the significant progress the association has made."Potter takes over as chairman from former Animetrics CEO Paul Schuepp. "I believe strongly in the SIBA mission, and am very proud of how far SIBA has come in a short while," says Schuepp. "With persistence, strategic vision and credibility, SIBA is already well-respected by government, the private sector, and the media."
