Washington Nationals fans are set to enjoy a seamless stadium experience as the team introduces Major League Baseball’s new “Go-Ahead Entry” system for the upcoming 2024 season. The innovative entry process promises frictionless access to Nationals Park, harnessing the power of facial authentication technology.
Go-Ahead Entry, available now for fan enrolment in the MLB Ballpark app, will allow ticket holders to enter the ballpark through dedicated gates with just a glance – no slowdowns or stoppages required. The system is tailored to enhance the fan experience by significantly reducing wait times.
Nationals Park boasts four distinct Go-Ahead Entry lanes strategically located around the stadium. Fans eager to test the new system can take part in the early showcase of Go-Ahead Entry technology.
Supporting the system’s ease of use is an enrolment process that involves capturing a facial image in the MLB Ballpark app, which is then encrypted into a unique code linked with the user’s ticketing account. Upon arrival, a quick face scan will validate and activate the fan’s tickets.
The efficiency gains are substantial – early analytics from last season’s pilot at Citizens Bank Park illustrated a 68% faster entry for Go-Ahead users over traditional methods, hence boosting the throughput.
Beyond entry speed, Nationals Park integrates CEIA OPENGATE technology for broader, hands-free security screening. Those with multiple tickets can also effortlessly admit their group under a single token.
For the Nationals and MLB, the introduction of Go-Ahead Entry is more than a mere convenience upgrade. It symbolises a forward-looking approach to customer care and ticketing operation.
