US biometrics and id management firm MorphoTrak has announced that it will be closing a facility in Federal Way, Washington state, as part of plans to consolidate operations in California.MorphoTrak, a subsidiary of French defence and aerospace firm Morpho (Safran), has said it plans to consolidate its two West Coast facilities into one at its headquarters in Anaheim, California.”This is a business decision based on a growth and consolidation plan for our company,” Celeste Thomasson, president and CEO of MorphoTrak, told the Federal Way Mirror. While around 95 MorphoTrak employees in Federal Way are to be affected by the facility closing, certain employees will be identified for relocation. The company has said it will offer the remainder of affected employees transition packages, outplacement services and other assistance.”We are extremely grateful to all of our employees, for their hard work and dedication,” Thomasson told the newspaper. “We also appreciate the years of support we have received from the Tacoma and Federal Way communities.”MorphoTrak originally grew out of neighbouring Tacoma in the mid-1980s, opening its Federal Way office in February 2011.”It is certainly nothing negative about the state of Washington or Federal Way,” Thomasson told The News Tribune. “We have two relatively large facilities on the West Coast. Anaheim was acquired in 2009 as part of an acquisition (and) much of the core technology is based in that facility”.
