LG U+, a telecoms carrier in South Korea owned by LG, is working on a biometric authentication platform that would enable a variety of applications.For example authentication would be used for mobile shopping, banking transactions and the like based on the storage of personal biometric information in universal subscriber identity modules (USIMs), reports Business Korea.LG U+ plans to provide USIMs with a high level of security in compliance with FIDO Alliance standards.LG U+ is planning to open a joint platform in August with SK Telecom and KT so universal FIDO authentication solutions and services can be provided for the convenience of enterprises and organizations wishing to use them.
