Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz told ministers this week while that most of the infrastructure work at the Al-Omari border crossing with Saudi Arabia has been completed, that similar work at the Jaber land crossing with Syria will also be stepped up.Razzaz said upgrading the infrastructure should go hand in hand with the improvement of measures at the land crossings, which became hotspots for infection with the coronavirus, both for workers at the border centers and domestically, reported the state-backed Jordan News Agency.The prime minister hailed an online portal being developed by the Customs Department and relevant agencies to enable truck drivers to electronically conduct customs work to limit contact with customs officers.Interior Minister Salameh Hammad, who heads the committee, said that infrastructure work at the Al-Omari border centre has almost been completed, especially the goods handling yard, gates and the caravans designated for quarantine. He also said development work at the Jaber post will be completed in the next days.
