Malaysian ePassport and multi-application national eID firm IRIS Corporation has issued 10.3 million Machine Readable Passports (MRP) and 240,000 Machine Readable Visas (MRV) for Bangladesh since 2010.An audit handover ceremony between IRIS Corporation and the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh took place on 28 April in the Department of Immigration and Passport Office in Dhaka.The ceremony was chaired by state minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal with Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan, senior secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs attending as a special guest.In 2012, IRIS was awarded a two-year contract of extension worth BDT1.3 billion (US$13.6 million) with the government of Bangladesh for the MRP and MRV projectSince winning the tender 2010, IRIS Corporation had been supplying all essential hardware and software to the Bangladesh DIP for their implementation of MRP and MRV to replace the previously handwritten conventional document.The renewal of the contract was due to the increasing requirements of MRP volume, additional equipment and related services for the total population of 150 million citizens in Bangladesh.Currently, the documents are issued at 34 regional passport offices in 31 districts and 59 foreign missions across the globe. IRIS has also built a data centre and personalization centre in Dhaka and a disaster recovery centre in Jessore."IRIS is a proven player in the trusted identity solutions arena.
