Malaysian smart card solutions firm Iris Corp expects trusted identification projects in Asia and Africa to keep the firm's outlook strong in 2015 despite a recent quarterly drop in profits. The company's net profit for its third quarter ended 31 December, 2014 fell 57.4% to RM2.32 million year-on-year, mainly due to a one-off loss on a waste-to-energy plant in Thailand. However, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Iris said the group's core business prospects were good thanks to revenue derived mainly from trusted identification projects. These include Malaysia e-Passport inlays, Nigeria e-Passport inlays, Tanzania e-ID cards project, Senegal ePassport project, Papua Guinea e-Passport project and Bangladesh machine readable passports (MRP) project, reported The Edge Markets.
