Global cybersecurity leader, Heimdal, has joined the ranks of Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to combat the circulation of child sexual abuse imagery online.
Joining over 200 companies across various sectors, Heimdal becomes an IWF Member, committing to the global effort to eradicate online child sexual exploitation. Membership grants access to IWF’s services like the Image Hash List—a catalogue of digital fingerprints of known child abuse images, allowing for quick identification and prevention of upload to the web.
Heimdal aims to bolster its capabilities in filtering and blocking harmful content, leveraging IWF’s resources. “Our partnership with the IWF underlines our pledge to foundational change, aiding in securing a safer internet environment for both children and adults,” stated Morten Kjaersgaard, CEO of Heimdal Security.
Susie Hargreaves OBE, CEO of IWF, emphasised the collaborative effort’s importance, stating, “Working together with tech companies like Heimdal, we can disrupt the distribution of abusive content and offer some solace to survivors.”
This collaboration marks a stride in Heimdal and IWF’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding online spaces and combating digital exploitation.
