A city in India has installed automated kiosks that act as panic stations for vulnerable children that can identify users with biometrics. The disappearance of public landlines has impacted on the country's only toll-free emergency helpline for street children and children in distress.Stepping in, Childline India Foundation in Mumbai has developed biometric kiosks that can directly link street children to advisors.A voice prompt in the regional language will instruct the person to touch the screen and enter details such as the nature of the problem, or give the option of calling Childline, according to a Reuters report.On touching the screen, the person's biometrics are captured and a picture is taken, and can be used for verification.
