India's ICICI bank has reported that it aims to conduct 5 million transactions this month using voice biometrics following increasingly rapid uptake of the solution. The bank, which implemented voice biometrics in May, says that 3.2 million customers have already signed up for the service. It also hopes to add another 1 million by next March, with an eventual roll-out to its entire customer base of 33 million savings and current account holders.”Our decision to invest in this new technology was primarily driven by the objective of enhancing convenience and the everyday banking experience of our customers,” executive director Rajiv Sabharwal said. The voice recognition service helps in phone banking transactions as earlier customers had to put in their 16 or 12-digit card or account number, followed by a 4-digit password to initiate a transaction.
