Healthcare IT security company Imprivata has revealed plans to launch a patient identity solution that uses palm vein biometrics in the UK.The biometric solution, Imprivata PatientSecure, has already identified more than 22 million patients in more than 350 hospitals and associated clinics in the United States, according to the firm.”Hospitals using the solution report positive feedback from patients and improvements in patient registrations. As well as streamlining administrative processes, Imprivata PatientSecure ensures that the right patient is in the right place at the right time and receives the right treatment,” said David Wiener, General Manager of Imprivata PatientSecure. The firm also plans to showcase Imprivata OneSign Secure Walk Away, which locks workstations when care providers leave and re-authenticates them when they return using 3D facial recognition technology. This eliminates the need to manually lock sessions and only unlocks the desktop when the previously authenticated user returns to the workstation.
