The organisers of the 9th eIDConference say the event, to be held next month in Colombia, will underline the Latin American region's potential for eID technology.Exploring the drivers behind the digitalization of citizen ID documents, the event will be held in Bogotá, Colombia from 10-11 October 2017.Day one of the event will discuss, "Understanding the path to transitioning to Next-Gen technology, lessons from inside the government: Colombia, Dominican Republic and Bolivia"During the last two decades of stable growth, Latin America has been exploring the world of IDs with ambitious programs around ePassports and smart IDs, noted the organisers of the event."Several countries have successfully implemented identification technological projects using world class top technologies but also adding a small spicy 'little flavour' combining ISO and ICAO standards with local necessities for biometric authentication and transit checks using not only chips capabilities but also: fingerprints, special 2D codes and other special unique apps".Over 250 government delegates together with the brightest minds in the industry, come together from all around the world to discuss the foundation and evolution of a global eID infrastructure, based on the digitalization of citizen ID documents.The eID Conference is offically supported by INCM (Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office) and Secure Identity Alliance (headquartered in Paris). Annually invited organizations are among others IOM, UNESCO and the EU Commission.
