Global entry applicants are encouraged to book an appointment across a two-day event in the Dominican Republic, commencing tomorrow, to enroll into the trusted traveller network. Only travellers who are provisionally approved for the scheme can schedule an interview where they will be required to present identity documents proving that they are either a U.S. Citizen, non-U.S. citizen or have lawful permanent residence.
Members of the CBP programme will be expedited through security procedures at Global Entry Lanes that harness biometric processing technology. The programme is for pre-approved, low-risk travellers but they will still have to carry a valid U.S. passport and some form of secondary ID (e.g. a driver licence or photo ID) depending on status to advance clearance and be validated by a CBP officer. All travellers upon entering the United States must undertake “rigorous” background safety checks and a face-to-face interview before enrolment.
