The Cypriot Civil Registry and Migration Department has confirmed that all new ID cards issued to Cypriot citizens will be biometric.According to the Cyprus Mail, the change to the migration law will be published in the official government gazette on Friday 27 February, allowing the move to biometric IDs to go ahead.The Cyprus Mail quotes the department as saying identity cards with biometric data will take five working days from the date of application for them to be ready.Citizens who carry current ID cards will not be required to replace them with a biometric version.
