New CLEAR e-gates are debuting at TSA security checkpoints to help expedite identity verification at three select airports. The expectation that millions of travellers will put pressure on security checkpoints, exacerbated by sporting events in 2026, the rollout for pilots will be limited to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Ronald Reagan, and Seattle-Tacoma Airport later this month. The rollout will be fully funded by CLEAR, at no cost to U.S. taxpayers, with their members only qualified to use the opt-in e-Gates program. In coordination with the TSA, they will automatically compare biometrics with travellers’ identity documents and boarding pass without the need for a human operator.

While CLEAR is operating these specific eGates, TSA continues to conduct the overall passenger identification and vetting.

CLEAR is a private company operating under TSA’s Registered Traveler Program.

Adam Stahl, TSA Acting Deputy Administrator said: “TSA’s public-private partnership with CLEAR on eGates is just one example of how we are working with stakeholders both inside and outside of government to improve hospitality and security for the American traveller”.

“eGates accomplish several objectives toward achieving Secretary Noem’s goal to enhance TSA security and hospitality…We look forward to rolling out additional eGate systems as we work to implement President Trump’s vision for a new Golden Age of American Travel.”
