The Biometrics Institute has announced that Greg Henwood from the UK Government Ministry of Justice and Andy Foote from Wells Fargo Bank USA have joined its board of directors. Andrew Rice from the Australian Government Attorney-General's Department has been appointed as new chairman. The board now includes industry experts from Australia, Germany, New Zealand, the UK and the US, representing government and finance sector user organisations as well as supplier member organisations.A new Advisory Council has also been established to support the board of directors with strategic advice from the expert and sector groups."I was honoured to be elected as chairperson of the Board and believe the work of the Institute is more important now than ever as biometrics become more pervasive, especially in consumer applications," says Andrew Rice, chairman and director of the board. "We need to keep responsibility, privacy and security at the heart of biometric applications and build real trust and confidence among citizens and consumers. The Institute will continue to offer a place for sharing of ideas, learning about best-practice and designing strong protections.
