Liechtenstein has a new passport design that went into circulation this month and even won the “Best New Passport 2026” for its high standard of security, particularly within the passport’s Polycarbonate Data Page. With increased durability, laser personalisation, and an additional portrait, the upgrade has been internationally recognised for bolstering security technologies and the functionality of modern passports.
The award confirmed the technical quality of a leading passport which serves a small country however, makes a fundamental difference to international travel.
In addition to these design features, the indication of the place of birth increases the international usability of the document, as this is an important means of identification for travel, official transactions and legal transactions.
The ‘old’ passport will remain valid until the expiration date. The unique features of this new passport embed the integrity of national identity, combine innovation and modern security, helping to protect against forgery.
