Taiwan-based IC designer Etron Technology has seen its newly launched 3D wide-angle sensor-based recognition modules adopted by Ant Financial, the online payment arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, at its first unmanned store in Hangzhou.The firm's EX8036 3D multi-aperture measurement/gesture recognition system utilizes the proprietary 3D natural light AI-vision IC/ platform technologies and features a wide range of distant detection from 20cm to 3.5m, with field view angle up to 114 degrees.It can provide clear images even in environments with a luminosity of only 4 lumens.Etron's 3D sensor recognition modules series have also been incorporated by leading makers of AR/VR head-mounted devices (HMD), with potential application fields including face recognition, gaming, robots, drones, machine vision, objects tracking, autonomous driving and indoor GSP, according to company sources.The firm's EX8036 module has been rated by organizers of the Computex Taipei 2018 to win the Best Choice Award, and LyfieEye200 panoramic camera developed by its US startup affiliate eCapture has also won the Innovative Design Award at the same event, the sources said.The LyfieEye200 is now the world's smallest, lightest 360-degree camera designed for AR/VR and business applications. It supports Android and Windows System and boasts a variety of new software enhancements that promise a revolutionary experience for AR and VR content creators. With a weight of only 15 grams, LyfieEye200 measures only 38mm in diameter with a thickness of only 22mm, the sources indicated.
