The Philippine Statistics Authority has successfully completed 90% of its registration target for the Philippine Identification. Over 82 Million Filipinos are accounted for within the Philippine’s national identification system, from registration to issuance.
In January, it was announced that registration for the Philippine Identification System has been made easier and more convenient for citizens, with no prior face-to-face appointments or scheduling required. Citizens will be able to sign up in the moment for registration onto the ID programme at any PhilSys Registration facility across the country.
Vetting procedures will still apply to confirm a citizen’s identity through collecting their biometrics and ID documents. Mobile registration services will also be an option for residents in isolated and rural regions.
As of December 2023, registrations levels have converted to 50.3 Million issued PhilSys IDs.
In the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines, the PSA confirmed 87% of target registrations for children aged 5 and above.
