Poland’s mObywatel app, used by over 10 million citizens, is developing a new application, according to a popular digital identity forum.

Edging closer to full compliance with eIDAS, an interoperability pilot of the mObywatel 3.0 has already got underway to enable “service continuity” throughout Poland in 2026.

More digitalised services are available via the app to convenience citizens. Electronic documents are considered as valid as physical documents. This led to a pilot in October 2025 of the qualified e-signature to digitally sign e-documents. The novel beginnings of digital mobile credentials giving access to Polish registries have advanced to millions of users adopting the wallet. Over 40 government services are accessible with verification through mObywatel. With the success of the 3.0 interoperability pilot, Poland will now target the full migration through 2025-2026 and project 20 million active users by 2031. The third iteration of the app strives for more than functionality to meet the expectations of eIDAS for dynamic digital ID. The app shows its “readiness” to meet EU digital ID guidelines taking an active role in technical pilots.
