Biographic to biometric data collection – The exclusion of ’selective disclosure’ rights for travel

Read a synopsis below…

Since 2001, The U.S Customs and Border Protection has been delivering its “touchless experience” mandate to implement a biometric traveller verification service across ports of entry in the U.S. After the landmark 9/11 terrorist attacks, security for the United States was a national priority, pivoting the collection of biographic data to biometrics and beginning the CBP’s 20+ year biometrics journey to track travellers through world-class Entry and Exit systems. Today, global pilots have led to the deployment of biometrics across international travel hubs – airports, seaports, and the Eurostar.

Identity Week publishes a second report, “Biographic to biometric data collection – The exclusion of ’selective disclosure’ rights for travel” that charts the global developments in biometric data collection and explores the idea that ‘selective disclosure’ does not exist within the travel and aviation industries.
