Devices to create electronic signatures issued on civil servant certificates will no longer pass the threshold for e-signature creation devices.
Older devices issued before 31st May this year will be banned from circulation and issuance from 23 July.
The announcement was informed by the Centre for the Issuance of Personal Documents at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, however, independent regulatory bodies certify the electronic component embedded in the certificates as a “qualified device” for the creation of an electronic signature.
Unfortunately, the security certificate confirming the independent body assessments will expire on 22 July this year as part of the planned changes.
