Corporate giants who were targeted in a string of major cyber attacks have reported their finances have plunged into the red, months after the incidents.
Hackers have controlled a situation over recent months affecting all industries who have data, as IT employees have struggled to recover company’s systems after attacks. Known hacking groups claimed responsibility for the attacks on Co-Op and Jaguar.
The companies represent some of the best of British businesses, with severe financial losses impacting the whole economy. Trade unions have lobbied UK government ministers to provide financial support for suppliers in the wake of Jaguar’s cyber attack.
The damaging attack on Co-op, that caused all systems to be shut down to contain the threat, reportedly racked up £206 million in revenue losses.
With no cyber insurance to fall back on, Jaguar Land Rover is forced to shoulder the hefty bill themselves.
