The supplier of biometric payments systems for pilots up and down the United States will continue to help J.P Morgan advance customer verification for in-store experiences.

PopID’s product line will be further deployed to pilot merchants and allow a seamless touch to security in retail environments to minimise shoplifting and underage sales.

They are the creators of the pay-by-face biometric payment solution, innovating totally contactless payment authentication. The loyalty scheme is rolled out on an opt-in basis, where customers upload a photo of their face which will be encrypted in the PopID Cloud. Once enrolment is complete, the customer can use the simplified biometrics payments method at participating pilot merchants and can opt in or out at any time.

The referral does enable those enrolled customers to enjoy quicker ordering and checkout experience saving 90 seconds per transaction.

Jean-Marc Thienpont, Managing Director, Omnichannel & Biometric Solutions at J.P. Morgan Payments said the “giant step forward” would help their clients transform the entire retail experience for customers and merchants alike, bringing “bringing best-in-class biometrics payments solutions to the market”.

Some facilities already using PopID’s biometrics payments plan to upgrade to payments processing powered by J.P. Morgan Payments such as Whataburger.

“We are excited to continue to embrace biometric payments to help us revolutionise the way our customers purchase their favourite food reliably and securely,” said Jerry Phillips, VP of Technology, Whataburger.

The hope is that enhanced security and users being able to choose their preferred method to pay will increase participation in the loyalty scheme at counter and self-service kiosks.

South Florida Motorsports, the organisers of the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix was the first client to use J.P. Morgan Payments’ biometric payments solution, debuting in retail stores at the Miami International Autodrome.
